Community Outreach
Scott was born and raised in the Pittsburgh, PA area, where he participated in organized sports like baseball and football, and swimming. As a young adult, the sports changed to motocross, tennis, golf, ice hockey and tournament racquetball. In 1979, Scott met his wife, Sandy, and after a couple of moves, they settled into the community of Bethel Park, PA, where they raised two sons. As they grew, Scott was involved in coaching them in baseball, hockey, soccer, and wrestling. Scott was certified as a youth coach by the National Youth Coach Association, and sat on the board of the Jr. Recreation Wrestling program as vice president, program director, and was co-tournament director for the annual wrestling tournament where several thousand dollars were raised to support a local family in need. Scott spent 34 years in the insurance industry attaining his LUTCF and CLU designations. He served as an agent and company marketing representative in PA. During that time, he was the golf tournament chair which raised $10k per year to support the local fire safety house and volunteer fire companies. In 2018, Scott and Sandy moved to Aiken to be closer to their older son and his family. Scott worked for a local insurance agency and retired in 2021. He and his Sandy enjoy camping, domestic and international travel, and especially enjoyed being lighthouse hosts at Hunting Island State Park for an entire summer! In February, 2022, Scott and Sandy attended Aiken Pickleball’s beginner’s clinic and became hooked on the sport we love.
